School perimeter wall
A perimeter wall is being built around the Callanquitas school as part of PPX's social contract with the community.

PPX Mining relies on the goodwill of the communities close to the project. Through Sienna Minerals, the Company supports health, agriculture and civic infrastructure on the ground.
In 2018 PPX reached agreements with the two local communities influenced by the project, allowing the Company to mine and explore Igor for a ten-year period.
PPX Mining Corp. relies on the goodwill and support of the members of the communities located close to our project to be able to operate — whether in early-stage exploration or the construction or operation of an active mine. We therefore consider it imperative that local communities are closely involved in our planning processes in order to address their needs and take their concerns into account.
PPX works together with our surrounding communities and government administrative authorities to identify areas of health, education and community support — and to promote projects and development that are sustainable and provide long-term benefits to all.
Our primary objective is to maintain a constructive relationship with communities and promote development, guided by four principles.
Specific projects at Callanquitas are a health clinic and a series of irrigation canals — and for Igor, a community centre. Each is described below, and access to a video is also provided on PPX's materials.
Foster mutual respect and co-existence with local communities.
Improve the quality of life of community residents.
Improve the health, nutrition and education of local community members.
Encourage good relationships and coordination with stakeholders to promote sustainable development.
Funded and built by Sienna Minerals — a permanent, earthquake-resistant brick-and-reinforced-concrete health post, designed for the extremes of the local climate.

Built by Sienna Minerals as one of the commitments made to the community — contributing to quality of life by giving access to health services. The donation decision was made to transfer the satellite health post to the competent authority (Ministry of Health of Peru), to be part of the Otuzco health network and contribute to the Peruvian State's efforts to increase access to health services.
The design was approved by the regional Ministry of Health and Sienna has purchased all equipment and pharmaceutical products to Ministry specifications. The facility is staffed by a graduate in nursing and obstetrics, funded by Sienna Minerals.
October 2022 spike includes a preventative-medicine campaign with the Huaranchal medical centre. Service extends to any citizen who transits through the area.

Sienna Minerals financed the construction of these canals with the aim of contributing to the sustainable growth of the inhabitants of Callanquitas — promoting economic activity in the area, especially agriculture.
Approximately 12 km of cement-sand-aggregate (mortar) lined canals. The routes existed for many years but were not functional — they crossed clay soils that did not contain water, especially in times of drought. The mortar lining allows water to move effectively.
Lining is approximately 10 cm thick, forming a "U" shaped channel approximately 20 × 20 cm, with a smooth finish and adjusted fall for steady water flow. Built with local labour under experienced supervision.
Population is increasing every year and new arable fields continue to appear — the hydraulic capacity of the canals will accommodate some of that growth.
Funded by Sienna Minerals as a contribution to the Igor community — a permanent, earthquake-resistant building designed in cooperation between professional engineers and the local community. (Callanquitas already has a community centre of its own.)

The importance of this place lies in the diversification of uses, which will be at the discretion of the community. It will also serve to increase coordination among inhabitants — creating spaces for dialogue and shared improvement.
